The short version. Escape has no accounts and no analytics. What you set in the app stays on your phone. The app talks to three things: Apple (for purchases), Travelpayouts (when you tap a booking link), and a small public file we publish each night so your flights stay current.
What Escape stores, and where
Your home airport, mood, priorities, refresh time, shuffle count and Plus status are stored on your device in a private container shared between the app and its widget. They are never sent to us. We have no server that receives them and no way to see them.
What leaves your phone
- Fetching the day's flights. Twice a day at most, the app downloads a public JSON file of routes, climate normals and fares from our hosting provider (Cloudflare). This is an ordinary web request; like any website, it means Cloudflare sees your IP address as the request's origin. No analytics run on this request or anywhere else in the app — it carries no identifier and nothing about you.
- Tapping "Flights from £X" or "Hotels in …". This opens the partner's website — Aviasales (via Travelpayouts) for flights, Booking.com for hotels — with, for flights, a partner code that tells them the visit came from Escape. It does not carry your name, airport preferences or anything else about you. What happens on their site is governed by their privacy policy.
- Buying Escape Plus. Purchases are made through Apple's App Store. Our purchase processor, RevenueCat, receives an anonymous app-user identifier and the App Store receipt so your subscription can be restored on a new phone. No email, no name.
What Escape does not do
- No account, sign-in or email address.
- No analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No location access. Your home airport is one you choose from a list.
- No selling or sharing of data — there is none to sell.
Where the flight data comes from
Routes and schedules: AeroDataBox. Fares: Travelpayouts (a fare shown is one that was actually observed, and the app says when). Climate normals: Open-Meteo ERA5, 1991–2020. None of this involves data about you.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your phone. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple ID settings.
